Default Thoughts for All

As I come to these forums, day by day, when I am bored or interested in seeing interesting topics, I once again see many threads dedicated to complaint, rather than constructive thoughts and suggestions.

Please, hear me out before you begin to flame for this neutral observation.

I merely notice many, many threads of people, on Guru, and GH [Haven't been to GWonline recently due to errors], merely complaining about what they dislike about the game, or, the age old topic of grind or farming arises yet again, and thus flamewars ensue as they either fade into PvP vs. PvE, or other.

What I notice is a pattern that bases around the time of new updates.

A new update is announced, and thus a few things with it, suddenly there is something a small group of players highly disagrees upon in this patch, and thus, before even giving the future patch a chance, the cries of these frustrated players rings throughout the forums causing massive debate and arguments.

The day the patch finally comes, it seems like some act as though it is the end of Guild Wars forever, as though they are shutting the servers down and throwing away the power supplies, so to speak. Yet, they have not given the changes in this patch a chance...

A few days after the patch and still arguments arise on one ground or another, and as such people reply to those, and more often than not, the discussion turns too heated and is then closed, or in some cases, forgotten.

The new patch notes are released, and thus the cycle begins again...

Why I point this out, I point no fingers to anyone in particular, nor do I at certian sides of the game. I point this out as observation to everyone to take note of and think clearly for a moment.

Guild Wars is, inherently, a game, correct? Thus, why is it then, that such anger and emotion are dumped into complaints or arguments over aspects of this game, which I am certain was meant to be fun, not a flamefest.

So, with this in mind, instead of arguing, can you all as players, attempt to be constructive, perhaps inputting ideas into Sardelac [here] for how you would like to see the game change from a patch that was just released, or can we as players, not respond with sarcasm, harshness or hateful words but also interject our intelligence and add to suggestions that have been made?

Futher on this note of suggestions. Can we as the players, attempt to see Guild Wars for being different, as it is, instead of suggesting a number of things that would turn Guild Wars into another game that is already released, but instead, perhaps suggest ideas from older games that were good, such as the Vault for gold and items as there was in Diablo II.

This said, I realize it is hard not to compare Guild Wars to other games on the market at this time, however, you must think of the genre it is in, and see that it is not necessarily an MMO, nor is it JUST an RPG, it is more competitive and cooperative than it is massively multiplayer. Thus, Guild Wars is rather unique in certain aspects of the game, and in others, it does carry qualities that are common in fantasy genres.

So many things have been done before, and perhaps all things you can do for a game have been. But this said, no one game can be perfect and appease all types of people. Thus, this is why the developers try their best to SLOWLY integrate new changes so that we may get used to them, and so that suddenly a huge dump is not just made and someone that just started yesterday, suddenly has to relearn the game due to so many radical changes at once that changes the game so much from its original form to something completely nad utterly different.

A quote I quite enjoy using on many occassions is this, and keep this in mind in thoughts to the developers and Guild Wars patches and the like...

"You can please everyone sometimes, and you can please some all the time, but you can never please everyone all the time."

With this, I may be safe to assume that the devs are trying to cater to everyone, however with every new patch, one group is appeased and another group is outraged. Please my fellow players, I realize that we are all intelligent human beings, of varying culture, race and religion, and so, I ask it in the most sincere of ways, please, can we all use decency and common sense in regards to these topics, and think before we react in a harsh manner. Truly think before a flame is lit, about the other players feelings on this matter, and also, on how you would feel if you yourself were a developer attempting to keep a certain feel in the game and balance to accompany it.

Once again I implore, can we all, as intelligent human beings, attempt to regard these changes differently and become creative and constructive than brazien and rude?

Through this I hope I have not offended any who may have read this, and if I have, I truly apologize to you in kind sincerity. This is what I have seen and observed, and I truly want to make this community shine, more than watch it burn so to speak.

Imagine the image that visitors may get from us, here, through the first few pages of Riverside Inn where there are quite a few flamey threads. Do we wish this to be our image?

With that, I feel I have gone on for quite long enough, and thus, thank you all for your time and consideration in reading this.

Thanks, I was barely thinking when I wrote it to tell all truths. I was more tired than fully with it, oddly ironic that I can come up with something that sounds a little odd in wording yet makes perfect sense in a state of being tired...

Maybe I should be tired more often... :-D

I don't think some people realize how good they have it with GW. I played D2 for about 3 years. That game was a mess. You had to cheat to be competitive. I have been pleased with all of the updates Anet has come out with. They actually are listening to the players. For instance capturing skills. They made it easier for warriors by making all the skills available after the monster dies, but then when they overlooked not being able to get barrage because the cut sceen played after Markus died, they changed that right away too. I bought this game reading and understanding that it was an ever evolving entity. I don't think anyone has really beat the game yet. I think there are numerous advances and updates yet to come. That is why I am going to keep playing. I eagerly await update Wednesdays to see what new things are instore. I feel that the disgruntle magority are actually the minority of the game. Otherwise why do I see so many districts filled with so many blue dots?

Though Ive never spoken up about it, Ive felt as you do about this game.

This is just a game and we as players are supposed to enjoy it. If we find we can not enjoy it then we should move on to something we can enjoy.

Our attitudes effect not only ourselves, but can potentually effect the game as a whole for the other players that have to play in our space.

As it is, anyone that enjoys this game can find things that would help to improve its enjoyment, and everyones ideas for this should be respected. Hopefully, the really good ideas will catch on and Anet will consider them into the game.

Other than that, we should try to have fun and stop crying, and have a little faith.
